Permits

Footings
Footings holes are dug per your township requirements which is normally a 12” dia. X 36” deep hole. We dig the holes with a stand on mini skid steer for minimal yard damage. Our standard footing is poured concrete to ground level and the deck support posts attach to this concrete footing with a Simspon ABE66Z stand off bracket.

We then notch the posts and fasten a double 2X10 beam with 1/2" through bolts.
Main Frame
We cut out the siding if needed and flash the ledger board with ice and water shield. The 2X10 ledger board is attached to the house with (2) 5" ledger locks every 12" or (1) 5" X 1/2" lag every 24." Ledger boards on concrete are fastened with (1) 5" stainless steel wedge anchor every 24." The size and spacing of joists is determined by the decking that we are using for each individual job and the joist spans. We always put joists 12" apart for Azek® decking or for diagonal decking. We use all hot dipped galvanized or stainless steel joist hangers, screws, nails, etc.
Decking
The decking can be fastened in many directions and designs with multiple colors on one deck. Our standard deck always has a "picture frame" which is a decking board run all the way around the outer perimeter of the deck and the rest of the decking installed inside the picture frame, which hides all the ends of the decking boards. All the corners of the picture framing is cut at nicely fietting angels as well as all cuts around spouting etc. Cut outs and board ends etc are routered to avoid any sharp edges and make the cuts blend in with the factory edges. The deckin is normally fastened through the face with 2-1/4" stainless steel screws for Azek® decking and 2-1/2" composite decking screws for many composite deckings. For an additional charge we can also use hidden fasteners, so you see no fasteners on the face of you decking.
Railings
Our standard stock railin is the Superior Systems® vinyl railin which comes in four colors and many post, rail and baluster styles. The post sleeves fit over a 4X4 which we nail on the inside of the outer perimeter of the deck framing and lag from two different directions for a sturdy foundation for the railing. We also use a wide variety of other railings such a Premier®, Timbertek®, MoistureShield® and others.
Steps
The standard flight of steps is 4' wide and has (4) 2X12 stringers with the tread and enclosed riser being the same decking as the main deck unless otherwise specified. The bottom of the steps are anchored to the ground using the same method as the main deck footers.
